Produced by the Railway Department of the Transportation Bureau, Office of the Taiwan Governor General, this documentary features an express train traveling over 400 kilometers between Keelung and Kaohsiung. The historic film provides a glimpse of Taiwan as it appeared ninety years ago. Along the route, viewers can see Taipei Station, the Dakekan River (now known as the Dahan River), the Baishatun Tunnel, the Lower Da'an River Bridge, and the Zhuoshui River Railway Bridge. Further south, the film captures other quintessentially Taiwanese scenes from that era—rising smoke from the Dalin Sugar Factory, banana plants, papaya groves, and smiling farmers—before finally arriving at Tainan Station. With the landscape and buildings having changed dramatically over time, this documentary serves as an invaluable record of the past.
